THE STORY OF BEARPAW In 2001, a young Tom Romeo was searching for a sign that would help him choose between his two passions. Like many people, Tom has a special spot that is his “happy placeâ€, where he finds time to meditate and listen to nature. While sitting on the special rock located on the shores of Lake Tahoe, a massive bear suddenly paused a short ways away from him, stared directly at him for a moment, and decided to move along without any confrontation. This magical experience had to be some sort of sign, and it inspired Tom to seek out the meaning of this encounter. Tom soon learned that a bear crossing is viewed by many as a sign of good luck and while symbolizing strength, the bear serves as a guide for many at an impasse. All doubt had gone away for Tom and he knew this was an opportunity to start his own shoe company founded on this great animal, with the name BEARPAW as an homage to his chance meeting with that bear in Tahoe. Shortly after, the very first BEARPAW boot style was created, called EVA. Since then, the EVA has evolved into our ELLE boot, and is still the most popular shoe style in the companyâ€s collection. Both EVA and ELLE embodied the BEARPAW lifestyle with their warmth and effortless style. I've been looking for a footbed-style sandal because I need arch support. These are really cute, and fit as expected. I'm a 7 1/2 to an 8, and the 8 in this sandal fit great. 7 was too small. I really like that both the footbed liner and the straps are leather. Price was very reasonable. The green is a really pretty muted color. BUT the footbeds were flat. They look like there is an arch from the side, but it's just the shape of the edge.Took me awhile to break them in. Now they are comfortable and easy to put on. I do have a couple of stains already that I have to figure out how to get off then I am going to waterproof themI love these! I was looking for something like my Birkenstocks, but cuter for wearing dresses. They are pretty and so comfortable. They aren’t as molded as Birkenstocks, but the cork is softer, so it molds to your foot when you wear them. The first time I wore them was an all day visit to Versailles, and my feet were comfy all day. My only wish is something I saw in the reviews before I bought. I can wear an 8.5 - 9, depending on fit. I bought the 9 and they fit, but they would fit better if they were 8.5. You can see they are a bit big in the photo. But they are still cute, not like foot boats.They are comfortableSuper cute and comfyI ordered a size 6. I wear a 5-6 depending on brand. I have never worn a 7 in any pair of shoes ever, however, the 6 in these is too small. My heel hangs off the back. The strap around the ankle is a bit thick for comfort but fits okay. The strap near the toes is insanely narrow fitting and tight and has very little give. I do not have wide feet but these are very uncomfortable.These sandals are super comfortable! I love them!Too tight around the ankle
