Okay so I don’t know the flavor since they are for my dog and cats but they seem to enjoy them and act like they are getting a treat twice a day. They help with the flea issue for sure.My animals like it so it must be the smell of the flavorAnyone buying these that has fleas already thinking this will work is goimg to have a bad day. Its a healthy preventative alternative to harsh poison. Key word prevent. For success, first youd need to live north of the mason dixon, second youd have to start your pet on 3 tablets for every 10 pounds as soon as the temperature hits 45 and not miss a day. Even at this much effort if a flea ridden animal takes a stroll through your yard its game over more than likely. My rotties and german shepard munch them up but i dont have any fantasies of defeating fleas with this stuff. Id imagine they are usuless if you dont use them daily and useless until the garlic builds up in their blood stream. Im hoping this will keep mosquitoes off my little fury friends because of the garlic but ill never really know for sure. As for the one star comment about garlic being bad and pops blood vessles in cats dogs and horses, well who knows. Ill research that fact but every feed store across the country carries this product. If this can cut my flea medicine usuage in half im all for it, but i know here in Florida the fleas dont care if your blood has garlic in it, or drain cleaner, or anti freeze, or even lava. They just dont care. I use comfortis 3x a year, i live with fleas as long as possible until its boarderline infestation, then it chemical warefare. I know it sounds crazy but so is kidney destroying poisons being ingested by your best friends. Frontline and advantage doesnt even work down here. I dont even use a flea comb because ive found that makes them insane and they start multiplying immediately. I honestly dont understand what i do that keeps them under a tolerable level but i do know i put them comb through them and the next day they are everywhere. Yes i comb outside, thats not it. Now when i say infestation i mean things like ok a flea landed on me 3 times today, time for the comfortis. Or if your dog rolls over and you see 3 fleas scurry. Or if your dog itches more than 3x a day. Thats boarderline infestation and i can stay under those goals for months with baths and vacuuming daily. Then one dose of comfortis and it doesn't matter how infested you are, once that disgusting crap hits their bloodstream i think the fleas at the neighbors die too! Its so powerful you have to wonder what kidney and liver damage is being done. I also use Norromectin for heart worms. Can not be used in the same month as comfortis!!! This is poison as well but its just ivermectic for swine and cattle. Meaning instead of 100 for heart guard that gives you six doses you pay 30 for 3 years or more worth of doses. Anywho.... Chemicals suck! This stuff is worth a try. Just understand the fleas will come! If you can hold off the infestation for a extra month for 7 bucks plus give them some healthy fur, do it.My dogs have finally been taking these long and consistently enough that I feel I can give a solid review. As a background, we're a military household and frequently have to deal with moving related health certifications requiring our lab mix and border collie mix to be vaccinated and medicated. We're also naturophiles and in researching how the like affects ourselves, not only were we totally freaked out about the stats with those protocol, the basic chemical preventatives didn't even work most of the times we really needed them to. In general, our dogs are really robust, active, and eat really well and are heading into their senior years. I after spending 6 months living in TN and routinely pulling sometimes 20 ticks off my one, I was enraged that the frontline had seemingly no protection to offer. My husband grew up giving his family dog a few cloves of garlic a day and he liced and died well. It was tedious mincing the appropriate dosage daily and my dogs hated it. I really did not expect to see a huge benefit from them but I wanted to find something that worked even just a little; especially b/c a few years later we moved to NC where ticks and fleas would be an issue again. We've been using these for at least a year and have visited the same thicken ridden area and hiked and picniced and we've only had one tick; which occurred at a time when consistency was an issue. Getting them to take these is no issue and it's really affordable, I think. I also give them an Omega 3 which they hate and now Desaquin and the same brand's digestive enzyme; which I also highly recommend. Our lab mix has had gas since we got him but after some sick days after eating marrow bones, I gave in. Enzymes are really key to getting max nutrient out of their food and balance out protein levels that turn up high in kidney/blood tests and has really saved quite a few lives; if you're dog has skin issues, try them. It often helps immensely. It's definitely helped with the gas. I am so pleased that we've not had to sacrifice their activity/ vitamin N intake (Nature is a vitamin, you know) and I haven't had to seek out prescriptions from my vet who I love but is eager to Vx for even low risk ailments. Trust me; I of all people know toxicity is an issue with garlic; do you're own research and use common sense. The difference between poison and medicine with all prescriptions is dosage; even with people. Some dogs, especially pure breeds are overly sensitive. But know that the stats for prescription preventatives and Vx in the vet realm are likely comparable. Plenty of veterinarians will attest to the the vet are industry overlooking toxicity and side effects and prey on over-doting pet parents. Research! Research!
